Impact | Tamarind Tree School is now in its thirteenth year of functioning. We are a government recognised school, providing quality education to tribal children denied of this basic right. With Covid, our funding and resources had taken a huge hit and the Marathon resources helped us stay afloat. The impact of the funds was that we have been able to keep the institution afloat and resume full fledged operations, serving 100 tribal children on campus. Not only did the Nutrition programme revive fully, sports and all other digital learning was brought back on campus. Students in Tamarind Tree undergo an English education predominantly on digital devices and we were able to hire teachers capable of imparting high quality education. With these funds, two batches of Tamarind Tree students (approximately 20) passed the Class 10 board exams through the NIOS and have joined colleges in Dahanu. Many of them would be the first from their families to continue a Higher Secondary Education (Class 12). In addition, Tamarind Tree spruced up its SCHOOL WITHOUT WALLS programme engaging corporate volunteers to teach online and a part of the funds were utilised to mobilize volunteers as well as create content and maintain our online servers. |
