Aditi Srivastava
Executive - Workplace Campaigns

Aditi Srivastava

Aditi is a graduate in Biotechnology and post graduate in Environmental Sciences. The major part of her work experience of two and a half years consisted of setting-up an environmental consultancy with a small team.

She is a strong believer in positive thinking. Other mood upliftment techniques that she uses are reading novels and dancing.

Ajay Govale
Director, Community Impact

Ajay Govale

Ajay joined United Way in June 2007. He earned a Master’s in Social Work from TISS, Mumbai, specializing in in Urban and Rural Community Development, after graduating from College of Social Work - Nirmala Niketan. His core areas of expertise include program development, multi-stakeholder partnership management and community participation. Ajay heads the Community Impact initiatives of UWM and has been actively associated with initiatives such as: Mission Mangroves, United for Road Safety, Youth for A Healthy Mumbai campaign, Third Party Audit of Clean-up Mumbai campaign of MCGM, etc.

He is keenly interested in community based disaster management, environment and civic issues. In addition to his responsibilities here, he has also been given the charge of disaster response initiatives under the aegis of United Way Disaster Response Fund- India at United Way of India. Ajay is also part of the Visiting Faculty for Emergency Response Management at NMIMS.

Anil Parmar
Director - Community Investment

Anil Parmar

Anil joined United Way of Mumbai in August 2008. He has completed MBA in Social Entrepreneurship from NMIMS, Mumbai and Masters in Social Work from College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan. He manages Community Impact initiatives of United Way of Mumbai which include public-private partnerships for community health issues, better disaster preparedness and improvement in the state of environment.

He has gained valuable experience from grass root rural development organizations. His keen interest is working on Good Governance and issues related to the environment. At United Way of India, he networks and coordinates with local United Way Chapters for Pan India project on the issues of education, health and income. Additionally he works for United Way membership compliance for UW network in India.

Anita Raikar
Manager - Impact Assessment

Anita Raikar

Anita holds a Post Graduate Degree in Sociology from Mumbai University. She has around 10 years' experience in the Development Sector, rooted in working with different target audiences like High Risk groups, Children and Women etc. in a variety of settings. Her work involved a strong Research Component. She has also handled projects funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Global Fund, Youth Aid, Norway India Project Initiative etc.

Anita has also worked extensively in the data collection process of primary data; implementing qualitative studies using FGDs, DIs, Diads; designing quantitative and qualitative tools; conducting analysis from MIS data; analyzing basic data using SPSS and formation and training of field investigators for data collection.

Anuj Ghanekar
Coordinator - Community Investment

Anuj Ghanekar

Anuj hails from Pune and has training in the field of social anthropology, i.e. study of human beings in a totality. He is passionate about qualitative research; involving the local community in action-based research and exploring the linkages of urban culture with climate change and health development. Anuj is also a passionate blogger and has keen interest in counselling psychology.

Ashwini Pawar
Coordinator - Community Impact

Ashwini Pawar

Ashwini completed her Bachelor's in Social Work from Shivaji University and Master's from Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai. Her motto is to "help people help themselves" and she has vast experience in working with rural, tribal and urban slum communities of Maharashtra. She also worked with children and women as part of her studies in social work.

This is Ashwini's second employment with UWM. Earlier, her work involved the areas of disaster preparedness, health, corporate engagement and environment awareness activities in Mumbai, gaining her the experience of networking, learning project implementation skills and practicing social work methods on field. Now, Ashwini is part of the United Way Mumbai Mission Mangroves project. Besides social work, Ashwini enjoys reading and travelling.

Avijit Chakrovorty
Asst. Manager – Campaigns

Avijit Chakrovorty

Avijit is a seasoned professional with over 7 years’ experience in B2B and B2C Marketing and Communications in mid senior level positions. Much of his work has involved identifying and developing strategic alliances and partnerships as a core marketing strategy along with a holistic engagement in ATL/BTL activations, visual merchandising, corporate communication and media planning / public relations activities.

He has developed unique dimensions and concept-synergistic brand campaigns along with ample exposure to commendable tie-ups across verticals and with diverse brands ranging from FMCG, to airlines, to media and more. Prior joining UWM, Avijit worked with various industry segments, from ITES, to Certification, Audit, Training and Entertainment. At UWM, Avijit handles the special projects in the events division. He holds a graduation degree in Business Administration from ICFAI University. He lives a nomad’s life, a traveller, trekker, blogger and a professional photographer as well!

Aziz A. Bhanvadia
Director, Finance

Aziz A. Bhanvadia

Aziz has done his B.Com / MBA in Finance with 20 years of work experience in various industries, which includes 12 years’ experience in the NGO sector. He joined UWM in February 2011 as Director, Finance. He is responsible for all finance related work both operational and statutory compliances which includes compliances of Trust, FCRA, society, Income tax. He has put in place Standard Operating Procedure (SOP’s) for the organization with internal controls, so on.

Bhavana Jha
Executive - Campaigns

Bhavana Jha

Bhavana has a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Administration and worked with Thomas Cook India Ltd. Taking her customer service skills and corporate communication skills forward, and following her true calling for social sector, she is now working with United Way Mumbai. Her interests are singing, public speaking and meeting new people. She aspires to learn and utilize all her skills to create something bigger than herself

George J Aikara
Chief Operating Officer

George J Aikara

George joined United Way Mumbai In April 2011. He has a management degree from SIBM, Pune and has previously worked in sales and marketing positions in India and supply chain operations internationally.

Prior to joining UWM he was based in Africa handling among other functions, CSR initiatives, forming strategic developmental alliances with international stakeholders, and forming self-help groups among agri communities. He has a strong interest and inclination towards furthering philanthropy, sustainable community initiatives and organizations supporting the development of social enterprises.

Godfrey Colaco
Executive, Community Investment

Godfrey Colaco

Godfrey completed his Bachelor of Social Work from the College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai, and is currently pursuing Masters in Social Entrepreneurship at NMIMS, School of Business Management. He joined the Community Investment team in 2009, and handles project activities pertaining to lifestyle interventions for prevention, early diagnosis and self-management of Diabetes in Mumbai. Godfrey has a keen interest in working with the youth population to tackle community issues.

Ishita Vora
Executive - Corporate Partnerships

Ishita Vora

Ishita has been involved in the social sector since she was just 15 years old. For 8 years now, she has been associated with the Rotaract organisation in Mumbai, having been president and playing an integral part of initiating the sports aspect of the organisation.She has also previously worked for a year with an NGO that aims to help male, female and transgender sex workers.

Ishita holds an MSc in Sustainability and Management from the University of Bath. She believe the social sector is a budding sector and finds it interesting to grow along with it. In her lay time, she is a YouTube junkie, Twitter surfer, nail art lover and practises Latin and Ballroom dancing.

Janet Joseph
Executive - Community Investments

Janet Joseph

Janet joined United Way Mumbai in May, 2016. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelors degree in sociology from St. Xavier's College and it was the Social Involvement Program as part of the Xavier’s curriculum that inspired her to join the social sector. Her interest in working in this sector led her to pursue Masters degree in Social Work from the College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan.

Prior to joining United Way, Janet worked with Volunteer student's forum, SPACE that worked with pavement communities in terms of their health and education. At UWM, she is part of the Community Investments team and is involved in the project on Hepatitis B & C. Outside of work, she enjoys photography and music.

Jayanti Shukla
Chief Executive Officer

Jayanti Shukla

Jayanti Shukla joined United Way Mumbai in 2008. Prior to this assignment, she was with the New India Assurance Co. Ltd, a multinational insurance company, as their Regional Manager at the company's Delhi Regional Office and then with IL&FS Investsmart Insurance Brokers Ltd. as Vice President for corporate and insurer relations.

Jayanti is an Independent Director on the boards of Standard Chartered Securities (India) Ltd., Standard Chartered Finance Ltd. and Standard Chartered Investment and Loans (India) Ltd. She is on the CII task force for India@75 and has been the co-chairperson of the CSR Committee of the Indian Merchants Chamber. She is an alumnus of the Hunt Partners Independent Directors Club. Jayanti is also the founder trustee of the Celebrate Bandra Trust which organizes the Celebrate Bandra Festival, an annual feature which showcases the culture and heritage of the suburb. Jayanti is an M.Phil from the University of Delhi.

Jayita Naha
Assistant Manager - Corporate Engagement

Jayita Naha

Jayita specializes in Development Communication and has been working in this sector for over 6 years. Program planning & implementation and building & maintaining relations with multiple stakeholders are some of her key areas of interest, especially with corporates. She has worked in-depth on gender and youth development issues. Jayita has a Bachelor's degree from Calcutta University in Journalism & Mass Communication, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Relations from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan She has also completed her MA in Development Communication from Roopkala Kendra, West Bengal.

Outside of work, Jayita enjoys travelling, photography and music.

Kanchan Awate
Asst. Manager - Community Impact

Kanchan Awate

Kanchan is a Physics graduate from Mumbai University. In 2007, she started working with the Indian Red Cross as an Admin Executive and eventually rose to the position of Program Manager. Initially, Kanchan worked for Red Cross' "Restoring Family Links" project and later, led their "Disaster Risk Reduction" program as well as a livelihood project in the Naxal affected area of Gadchiroli. Kanchan is a regular trekker since her college days & a member of a group called Unnecessary Hikers.

Kedar Annam
Program Officer - Community Investment

Kedar Annam

Kedar has joined United Way of Mumbai for the ICICI Swachh Society Awards Project. Academically, he is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Public Policy, from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. He is a BSc-IT graduate from Vidyalankar College, Mumbai. He has had past experience working with Garbage Concern Welfare Society for one and a half years, where he occupied the post of Project Coordinator for projects concerning Waste Management, Green Space Development and Skill Development & Training. He is an explorer and loves trekking, travelling and interacting with people. He is also a nature buff and enjoys reading, film and theatre

Nandita Narvekar
Asst Manager, Workplace Campaigns

Nandita Narvekar

Nandita started her journey at United Way of Mumbai in April 2013 after finishing her MA in Human Resource Management from University of Westminster, London. Prior to that, she worked in an executive search firm for eighteen months in Mumbai. She has completed her Bachelor’s in Management Studies from H. R. College of Commerce and Economics.

During her under graduate years, she realized her inclination towards the social causes, and consequently worked on several projects addressing the issues related to women and youth empowerment, education for underprivileged and lack of electricity in rural India. At United Way of Mumbai, Nandita works for Corporate Partnerships, specifically focusing on Workplace Campaigns. Nandita's areas of interest lie in employee engagement through skill development initiative in education, livelihood and woman empowerment as she believes a professional can always impart skills and knowledge that they possess.

Nehal Das
Executive - Community Investment

Nehal Das

Nehal was a practising physiotherapist for three years, when she started working with The Akanksha Foundation, where she recognised her calling of working in the social sector and decided to change her career. She feels that nothing gives her more pleasure than working for the community and supporting its development. She also has experience as a Research Assistant with a Public Health Institute in Gandhinagar.

Nikhil Tambe

Nikhil Tambe

Nikhil has been with United Way since November 2015, in the capacity of Office Assistant. Nikhil is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University. His main interest lies in photography.

Poonam Wadke
Manager, Accounts

Poonam Wadke

Poonam graduated from Mumbai University. She also studied GIC and GDCA. Poonam has worked in the accounts department for over fifteen years. She joined UWM in October 2009 as the accounts manager. In her free time, she enjoys coaching her daughter's little league games & cooking.

Prachi Nautiyal
Director, Corporate Partnerships

Prachi Nautiyal

Prachi Nautiyal joined United Way in 2013. She heads the Corporate Partnerships department. She comes with experience in the development sector in the key areas of program planning and implementation, resource mobilisation, grant management in CSR. Over the years, her key focus has been in the areas of women's studies, geriatrics, early child development and education, and developing and testing modules in the area of sustainable livelihoods through cluster based approaches & self-help groups in non-agricultural livelihood in India.

Prachi has worked extensively with the government in public- private partnerships, with multilateral funding organisations in the areas of fund raising, Research, program planning & implementation, monitoring and review of field programs and has written research papers in gender studies. Prachi holds a Master's degree in Linguistics from Delhi University & is a Post Graduate in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Preeti Iswalkar
Coordinator, Operational Accounts

Preeti Iswalkar

Preeti joined United Way of Mumbai in February 2014. She is a Commerce graduate from Mumbai University with a total work experience of 10 years in the accounting field. Prior to working with United Way of Mumbai, she worked as a senior accounts executive at various companies. She currently handles operational accounts for UWM programs. Preeti likes to learn new things, meet new people and discover new places.

Rakesh Gamare
Executive - Community Investments

Rakesh Gamare

Rakesh has a Master's degree in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, specialising in Children and Family. Prior to this,he had experienced working with tribal children on the issue of education; the happiness which it gave him led to his decision to pursue a degree in Social Work.

His fieldwork also includes working with the ‘Gorai Macchimar Sahakari Sanstha’ where he worked as a community developer in a team organising health camps and creating awareness about the Tribal Scheme. His past work with YUVA saw him take up work that was community based as well as concerned with child rights. For rural practicum Rakesh worked with Society for Participatory Action and Reflection (SPAR), Jharkhand, to understand rural poverty and inequality. His thesis was on ‘Success Stories of Street Living Children’. His aim is to be a part of the Social Work process to contribute to community well-being.

Ram Kamble
Executive - Community Impact

Ram Kamble

Ram graduated from Yashvantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, specialization History and Marathi and holds a Diploma in Teachers' Education. He has also completed an M.A. in Social Work, specialising in Community Organisation and Development Practice, from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. His area of interest is Community Mobilization, Education, Health, Livelihood, etc. Outside work, Ram enjoys travelling, dancing, anchoring, and interacting with people.

Sanaa Shaikh
Director, Investor Relations

Sanaa Shaikh



Sanaa joined United Way of Mumbai in June 2015. She has a postgraduate degree in Human Development, a diploma in Youth Development Work and a certificate in Guidance and Counselling. Prior to joining United Way, Sanaa was the Chief Operating Officer of a Mumbai based non-profit organization working with children from marginalized communities. She has led a team of 200 staff and worked across a wide range of functions including Donor Relations, HR, Education and Community Work. Having been a volunteer in child focused NGOs since the age of 15 years, she has a keen interest in child rights. After 8 years of experience in a grassroots level organization, Sanaa now leads Investor Relations at United Way of Mumbai.

Shailesh Bhutka
Executive - Community Investment

Shailesh Bhutka

Shailesh holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from P. D. Lions College; a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights from Indian Institute of Human Rights, Delhi and Masters in Social Work from the College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan. His Master's thesis focused on “Role of Support Group among Gays Living with HIV/AIDS”, for which he was awarded an INDAL (Social Science) Junior Research Fellowship from the Asiatic Society of Mumbai. Prior to joining United Way, Shailesh worked with The Humsafar Trust, Child Help Foundation and Tata Consultancy Services. His interests include, starting and running various programs at community level. Outside of work, Shailesh enjoys travel and cooking.

Shailesh Wagle
Asst Manager, Community Investment

Shailesh Wagle

Dr. Shailesh joined United Way of Mumbai in July 2015. He completed his graduation in Ayurveda, and has a master’s degree in public health from Manipal University, specializing in environmental and occupational health. He also has a Certificate in Global Health from Maastricht University, Netherlands.

He began his career as a public health consultant focusing on urban health and climate change. At United Way of Mumbai he is a part of the community investment team and manages community health related projects. The first and only doctor of the United Way of Mumbai office, Shailesh has a keen interest in environmental health, climate change and the effect of physical environment on children and elderly. He also enjoys travelling and photography.

Soniya Nagwekar
Coordinator - Campaigns

Soniya Nagwekar

Soniya holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Media from the University of Mumbai. She started her career with an Employee Background Verification company where she worked for about 3 years. Post that she moved to the social sector and has worked with GiveIndia and Dasra where she handled the research, monitoring and diligence of the projects supported by the HNI donors. At UWM, Soniya is a part of the Campaigns Team handling the NGO partnerships for various campaigns. Soniya is a certified Graphologist and a avid animal lover who intends to build a shelter for strays someday.

Sukanya Bhattacharjee
Asst. Manager, Corporate Grants

Sukanya Bhattacharjee

Sukanya Bhattacharjee joined United Way of Mumbai in December 2015. She has worked for several grassroot level NGOs across Delhi, West Bengal and Mumbai. She has a Master’s Degree in Economics from Rajasthan University. Prior to getting into the development sector she worked as a Financial Analyst for over 10 years.

At United Way of Mumbai, she is a part of the Corporate Grants team where she works for Corporate & Payroll Giving. She has a keen interest in Women’s Empowerment, Education, Skill Development Projects and International Development. She enjoys simple pleasures of life like cooking, travelling and spending time with her family and pet dogs.

Suresh Mohite
Office Assistant

Suresh Mohite

Suresh is one of the oldest serving employees at UWM having been a part since the past 7 years and handles various backend chores. He is an avid fan of cricket and follows matches during his free time.

Swati Raghunathan
Asst. Manager, Communications

Swati Raghunathan

Swati has a Master's degree in English Literature and has previously worked in CSR with Johnson & Johnson, as well as, as a lecturer of English in S.I.E.S college. She has also pursued a PhD in the field of Queer Theory from the University of Tasmania (Australia). Prior to joining United Way, she worked in the capacity of a Media and Communications officer at Praja Foundation. She has a keen interest in the fields of LGBT rights and Education. Swati is a fanatical reader with interests ranging from poetry to children's literature and British History.

Tara Raghunath
Executive - Community Investment

Tara Raghunath

Tara has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from K.C. College and a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Leeds. Prior to joining United Way, Tara worked with Majlis Legal Centre, a legal NGO that provided socio-legal support to women and children who were victims of sexual and domestic violence.

Tara has a deep interest in working towards raising awareness at community level and helping to raise funds necessary to provide the community with education and health facilities. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, reading and trying different cuisines.
