Raising Funds For

One in every five children have a mental health concern in India. Aches and pains, fatigue, nausea, disturbed sleep are common body symptoms linked to stress among all ages. One in ten students drop out of secondary school regularly. Suicide is the leading case of death among 10-24 year olds in India. Parents, teachers and doctors, often lack understanding of common symptoms related to mental distress or simple ways to manage these for themselves as well as younger people. Situation is worse for families living in urban slums due to overcrowding, addiction, violence and poor living conditions. When proper support is not provided, growing children continue to carry their pain into adulthood, compromising their personality development and limiting their potential to succeed.
Institute for Exceptional Children (IEC) strives to educate caregivers on how to identify children who may need help. We assist children, adolescents, adults and families from low-resource settings by diagnosing and treating their mental health concerns with evidence-based practices. Your donation will be used to support children and their families within Mumbai suburbs.
