Raising Funds For

This novel initiative of 2 NGOs- RSCD & ISHAD which are working in the area of education, training & empowerment etc of elected representatives in Local Governments, catering around 20,000 representatives. It is now being increasingly recognized that the essential services like education, health, sanitation, water supply, environment protection etc can be best provided to all the citizens only through the education, training & empowerment of the elected representatives of the concerned Local Self Governments i.e. Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Municipal Corporations/Councils, the 3rd tier of our democratic structure.
It is in-line with the strategies suggested by UN for achieving 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Accordingly revolutionary 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendment Acts were enacted in 1993 giving minimum 33% reservation to women in more than 3 million elected seats in Local Self Governments, besides conferring Constitutional status on them. ISHAD which is working in the areas of holistic human development has recently launched . Grassroot Democracy Platform (GDP) for achieving the above objectives with the help of like- minded people and organizations. Grassroot Democracy Platform (GDP) has been launched by Shri J S Saharia (Chairman ISHAD) .
Education and empowerment of the elected representatives (more than 300,000 in Maharashtra and 3 million in India) of which nearly 40% are first timer women and persons from weaker sections of society, is a huge task which ISHAD & RSCD believes can be achieved only by the support of all including Government, Corporates, Universities, Civil Society organizations etc.
We would like to spend fund raising amount to build capacity of the Elected Women Representatives of the Maharashtra state. This fundraising support will help us to design women empowerment programs towards achieving SDG's goal no 5 that is Gender Equality. Also, we will utilize this fund for research, trainings, alliance building & developing IEC material.

Beneficiary Description In a total of 16 participants benefited through this workshop. Nowadays, providing updated information in the right way is very important because training is a crucial part of spreading awareness & building capacities of the weakened section of the community. Elected women representatives must know about their role as a village leader, but elected women representatives do not get qualitative training based on their role and responsibilities as women political leaders, which leads to many issues at personal to village level, such as political promotion not taking place, lack of participation in decision making process, lack of support from family & dependency on male candidate or family members. And if she gets quality training, then her contribution will help to develop the village & strengthen the local governance body along with self development. And qualitative training depends on how one trainer is providing training to the Elected Women representative. After this Train The Trainers workshop, all the trainers could use their learning while conducting training on SDG, PRI & Social Protection schemes at village level.
ImpactThis program was very useful for all the participants. A total of 16 trainers, who are Master Trainers on the topic of Panchayat Raj Institution, could get the opportunity to find out more about effective & enriching training methods, techniques and skills that are required. These trainers provide Panchayat Raj training to Elected Representatives of Local Self Government across Maharashtra.
