Care for Cancer
Under Care for Cancer, Artscape delivers free sessions of Expressive Arts Therapy to Cancer patients, caregivers, and survivors from lesser resourced homes.
Cancer is one of the most feared ailments. It impacts the physical, mental, financial and social fabric not only of the patients but also their caregivers. This disruption brings up a range of negative emotions like anger, anxiety, fear, guilt, sadness, isolation, depression and suicide. The aim is to provide emotional support and mental strength to them.
Trained facilitators use different art tools like music, movement, drama, art, to create a safe space for participants to engage, connect with self, and express in ways other than talking. It is a complementary diversional form of therapy that helps to ease and fasten the process of recovery and rehabilitation. Since 2015, Artscape has engaged more than 15,000 beneficiaries and more than 90% of them have shown interest in attending the sessions again.
