Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024
India has the largest number of sexually abused children in the world. A child is sexually abused every fifteen minutes in our country, according to recent government reports. Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a serious and pervasive social malady contributing to a wide array of psychological and emotional disorders, that children and adolescents may experience for a lifetime. Studies propose that over 7,200 children, including infants, are raped every year and several cases go unreported. When this occurs and children are not given the protective and therapeutic assistance they need, they are left to suffer and struggle on their own. These alarming statistics call for urgent action.
I am supporting HEAL(Help Eradicate Abuse through Learning), an NGO which works
with victims of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA). A contribution from your end will go a long way in creating awareness, providing rehabilitation to victims and advocating policy development. Let us rally for change and make India safe for our children!
About Me
My name is Avantika Shah and I am a seventeen year old student at The Cathedral & John Connon School, Mumbai. I am passionate about singing, theatre and Indian classical dance. By participating in the marathon and raising funds for CSA victims, in my small way, if I can give them a voice to speak up, a stage to defend their rights and an opportunity to restore their life’s rhythm, then it would be a pursuit more fulfilling than any other. Help me make a difference!
