In India every one in two children is abused.This problem is so wide spread it can be considered an epidemic. The trauma associated with sexual abuse can contribute to arrested development, as well as a host of psychological and emotional disorders, that some children and adolescents may never overcome. When sexual abuse goes unreported and children are not given the protective and therapeutic assistance they need, they are left to suffer in silence. HEAL- Help Eradicate Abuse through Learning, under The Foundation, trains parents, teachers and administrative staff to understand, acknowledge, identify and respond to CSA(Child Sexual Abuse). HEAL works with children on personal safety education. HEAL provides support and consultation for school counsellors in handling cases of sexual abuse. HEAL works with institutions to set up systems to respond to CSA cases and institutionalise a child protection lens through active policies and committees.
