Urja Trust was established in 2014 and supports young women between the age of 18 - 32 years, who due to extreme abuse and atrocities at the hands of their family members have either left their homes or been thrown out. They reason they cater to this specific age group is because during their work with homeless individuals, they realised that there aren't many if any shelters for young women once they turn 18 years. So if a girl is already living in a children's shelter, once she is 18 years, she is asked to leave and lands up on the streets, where she suffers abuse and violence. If a young women of 18 has left her home or been thrown out then again she is on the streets facing further abuse. At Urja they provide shelter and look after the young women's physical and mental well-being gradually moving to their education and finally livelihood, to enable them to live independent lives with dignity. We urge you to support the cause of homeless young women who find a safe haven at Urja to once again grow and develop into confident young women. It takes a lot of courage and many struggles to rebuild one's life, and your contribution can have a positive impact on their fight for a dignified life. Contribute and be a part of the journey of young women at Urja Trust!
