Support My Campaign

Children and youth of New Jagdeesh Nagar and neighboring slums in Indore face many difficulties. For 2-3 months during Monsoon, we walk to school through waterlogged muddy lanes. We remove shoes, roll up salwars, walk through the mud, then wipe off the dirt with our hands, wear shoes and walk to school, where our feet remain dirty. Our newly setlled colony is considered "illegal" by authorities. Still the continued efforts of our basti’s women groups with UHRC's support have resulted in a small part of street in our colony has been paved about one year back.

My school has very few facilities, activities and we are confined within them. There is no arrangement for playing. I enjoy being a member of children and youth group under UHRC’s program. I have been elected as President of our New Star Children's group. I am able to read interesting books through mobile library and got opportunity to be aware about different parts of Indore city. UHRC activities help us children and youth improve knowledge and sharpen our skills and confidence in performing and speaking before a large audience.

UHRC organizes activities such awareness Rallys, sports day, group-song, nukkad natak by children's group members and poetry recitation on themes such as "girls are equal contributors to society" and dance. These enhance confidence, self-expression. By ourselves thinking about different aspects of organizing activities we acquire organising skills, team-skills and develop leadership.

About Me

I am 18, study in class XI in a private school near my Basti in Indore. My Father is a contractor of carpentering work. My mother is a housewife. I wish to study further to become self-dependent. My aspiration is to join Police service. I also want to help other children to study, gain confidence and skills. I wish to work on a sustained basis with UHRC to improve lives of my and other families in our slum and neighboring slums. I hope to raise funds to create an example before children of all bastis in area and contribute to sustaining UHRC guided efforts of groups to make slums in our area cleaner, have paved streets, water supply and garbage cleaning. I also hope to motivate children to attain education and learn skills.
