SAMMAN Association – is an organization for People with Epilepsy. AIM of SAMMAN Association is to empower all people with epilepsy and ensure they get the right kind of education, jobs and have a good life overall. In society, today there is a social stigma that exists about Epilepsy. Anyone sees a person getting a seizure, they think there is something “mentally” wrong with the person and is abnormal. Epilepsy is a disorder but it is a temporary problem which with the right awareness, care and treatment can be resolved. Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders, and affects people of all ages. Out of the 50 million people with epilepsy worldwide, 80% reside in developing countries. About 12 million people with epilepsy in India.Around 14 people per 1,000 populations are prone to suffer from epilepsy in India with higher estimates in children and young adults, and in rural areas. Epilepsy is quite a serious problem in India. Nearly 95% of the people with active epilepsy do not receive treatment for their condition. With the funds received from this, I would like to help SAMMAN Association with: 1.Rural Epilepsy Clinics: 2.Training programs Empowerment programs 3.Epilepsy Awareness programs 4. Public awareness programs Many people are not that privileged and do not have enough money for basic Anti-epileptic medicines or even for their treatment. By fundraising the money here, I would like to ensure that they have a seizure free and healthy life.

About Me
My name is Aditya Mehta, I am 30 years old. I have been running since 2015 and in Jan’2016 I ran my first HM and it was an incredible experience. Since then I have never looked back and my passion for running has grown immensely. I have recently also completed a certificate course in Marathon Training from ESA. I was diagnosed with epilepsy very early on when I was just 3.5 years old. At age 5, I was also in Hepatic Coma (Hepatitis A) for 1 week in hospital. Over the years, I have had several petit mal (short) and grand mal (long) episodes of seizures. In 2011, I got operated for epilepsy, craniotomy surgery was done, and today I have been seizure free since October 2014 and my medicines have also been stopped since May’19.
