Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024

Established in 1968, the National Society For Equal Opportunities For the Handicapped, India (NASEOH, INDIA) has been working towards developing comprehensive rehabilitation opportunities for people with disabilities to facilitate integration into mainstream society. Focus on 4 key areas: Education, Vocational Training, Employment, Disability Prevention

Education:
NASEOH runs two facilities at the premises to strengthen the development of children with Special Needs. The focus is on developing the child's motor, sensory-perceptual, cognitive abilities and social skills, making the child independent to its fullest potential and preparing the child for inclusion into mainstream or special school. NASEOH supports Integrated Education of the Deaf in association with Central School for the Deaf.

Vocational Training:
NASEOH runs Smt. Kamla Mehta Vocational Training Centre for Disabled. The focus is to enhance the employability of people with disabilities. Currently, training is run in 12 areas with individualised, goal-oriented programmes based on interest, ability, and physical and mental capabilities.

Employment:
Opportunities are provided to the persons who have completed training at NASEOH such as Clerks, office attendants, Telephone operators, tailors etc.

Disability Prevention:
NASEOH has been engaged in the prevention of communicable diseases that lead to disabilities such as polio, blindness, hearing impairment and mental retardation.
Through immunization, regular health checkups, nutritional supplements & medicines,
corrective surgeries and Organizing awareness programmes at community, and school levels on various health-related issues and management of disabilities.

About Me
Hi, My name is Charumathy Murali. I started running marathons this year (2023) and the Tata Mumbai Marathon will be my first half marathon. I would like to take this opportunity to fundraise for NASEOH, an NGO doing impactful work in educating, training and supporting people with various disabilities to help them integrate into society. Growing up, I used to visit special needs schools that my brother was enrolled in and saw the massive difference access to therapists and special educators makes in the lives of the children and parents. It's great to see an NGO that extends this beyond and facilitates employment for disabled people through vocational training & employment opportunities. I appeal to you to support their effort in making India more disabled-friendly.
