EmancipAction was founded in 2013 to provide hope and healing to vulnerable girls across India. With over 9000+ childcare institutions offering shelter to children who have been abandoned, orphaned, trafficked, abused or surrendered, we focus our efforts on building the capacity within these existing facilities to provide children with the care they so desperately need.
India has the highest number of child sexual abuse cases in the world, and we have a dire need to address the growing mental health needs of children who have lost all hope. Unfortunately, with only 3 psychiatrists or psychologists for every one million people in India, this demographic is often overlooked. EmancipAction's program relies on creating a whole new system of care through 'mental health workers' who can provide a cost- effective, scalable and sustainable solution to the issues facing traumatized children today.
