For many years now, I have been given the opportunity to witness the Udaan India Foundation in forming a non-profit organization that has helped thousands of kids. I am very privileged to be given an outstanding education, however, Udaan helped highlight the millions of Indian children who are living in circumstances where they are not able to have a proper education. Most Udaan children are from families where there has been little or no formal education, where education is not a priority and it is commonplace for children to drop out of school in order to contribute to the family income.
In India today, 4% of our children never start school. 58% do not complete primary school. 90% do not complete secondary school. And only 10% complete college. Udaan aims at changing these statistics by providing children from low-income communities the academic and non-academic support that will enable them to stay and succeed in school and realize their true potential through continuous learning.
For a child, their programs are a journey from Kindergarten through school years towards enhanced employability skills. The focus is on making learning a continuous, voluntary and joyous experience to enable their children to take on the future with confidence as they progress towards their ultimate goal of self-sufficiency.
Hopefully, with support from all of you, I would be given the opportunity to the support Udaan India Foundation in raising funds to further enhance their programs.
