Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Society (PDMDS) is an all India ‘Registered Charity Society’ established in 2001 under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. It is a non profit organisation committed to ultidisciplinary rehabilitation to improve the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s and their families. Dr Bhimsen Singhal, a world renowned neurologist and founder of PDMDS decided to create a common platform for those who had this condition to come together to share experience, educate, inspire and get motivated to manage Parkinson’s.
PDMDS provides rehabilitation and education for people with Parkinson’s disease through a network of community – based support centres across India.
These centres provide physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, Psychology and Cognition,diet and Nutrition, and alternate therapies such as music, dance and arts. Formal discussions, lectures and demonstrations on the many facets of the condition are organised drawing on the multidisciplinary model of care.
