Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024

I was rescued from my URJA's team have been staying with URJA from the past 3 months. I have taken admission in Grade 8 in distance education and have also been part of Art based therapy. Recently, I joined a basic computer skills course which will be an add on skill for as part of my education as well as when I starts looking for job opportunities. Along with all this, I am also part of Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020 and have been practicing for it religiously and with dedication. URJA Trust is a safe haven for homeless young women such as me, who have faced abuse and discrimination and are fighting to be able to lead their lives with dignity. I urge you to support the organisation so that they can continue to facilitate homeless young women.

About Me
I hail from Odisha, and was trafficked at the age of 8 years to become a bonded labour for families in the city. I was sold as a domestic worker to a family based in Jammu. The husband was in the Army, the wife was a homemaker, and they had 2 children. For 8 years I did all the household work and babysat their children, without ever being paid! I moved to the family wherever they went and that is how I came to Mumbai. Throughout these 8 years, I faced verbal and physical abuse at the hands of the wife. I was not allowed to go out alone from the house and she wasn’t even given the opportunity to go to school. They changed my surname and gave me their family surname without my consent.
