Established in 2002, Salaam Bombay Foundation is a Mumbai-based NGO dedicated to empowering adolescents from underprivileged backgrounds. Our interventions begin in middle school and follow a continuum model that supports youth through their formative years and into adulthood.

We operate across five key academies: 1) Preventive Health Education Programme (PHEP): Focuses on life skills, mental health, nutrition, and tobacco refusal. 2) Arts Academy: Offers training in music, dance, theatre, and painting. 3) Media Academy: Builds skills in photography, filmmaking, podcasting, and journalism. 4) skills@school: Provides hands-on vocational training in trades like beauty, electrical work, and bakery. 5) Sports Academy: Promotes fitness and teamwork through structured sports training.

Our intervention extends beyond our academies. Even our alumni benefit from structured pathways including internships and our Entrepreneurship Incubator. We identify alumni with a potential to entrepreneurship and provide them with a starter kit – helping them start their business journey, along with training to develop technical and managerial skills. Furthermore, select youth pitch to a jury of industry experts for seed funding at Dolphin Tanki.

With over 6.8 lakhs lives impacted, we aim to break the cycle of poverty in a single generation by fostering education, self-reliance and leadership.

Appeal

At Salaam Bombay Foundation, we believe poverty should never define a child’s future. Our mission is to equip adolescents from under-resourced communities with the tools to make informed choices about health, education, and livelihood. Through our in-school and after-school academies in arts, media, sports, and vocational skills, we nurture self-esteem and practical capabilities.

Your support can help us expand our reach and deepen our impact. Funds raised will be directed towards – 1) Vocational training modules like mobile repair, beauty, bakery, and more, enabling students to earn while they learn. 2) Arts and Media Academies, fostering creativity and storytelling skills for career pathways in the creative and media domains. 3) Sports – core fitness skills and career related in sports and fitness. 4) PHEP – Preventive Health Education Programme - empowers student with knowledge and tools through better health, nutrition, and well-being.

Every contribution helps us transform skills into livelihoods and dreams into realities, while empowering adolescents to make the right choices about their health. Join us in empowering the next generation to rise above limitations and build a future of dignity and opportunity.
