The British Asian India Foundation (BAIF) was instituted in 2017 and registered as a Section 8 company dedicated to creating sustainable and long-term social impact across education, child protection, and livelihoods. Through a systems-change approach, we design and deliver high-impact programmes in collaboration with governments, civil society, communities, and the private sector. Our work is deeply aligned with India’s national priorities, including the NIPUN Bharat Mission, Mission Vatsalya, and PM Jan Arogya Yojana. We lead outcomes-based financing in India, pioneering development impact bonds and strengthening the capacity of Indian nonprofits to adopt results-driven approaches.
Our Advisory Council in India comprises some of the most well-regarded and influential leaders from business, civil society, and philanthropy, viz. Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Mr. S. Ramadorai, Mrs. Sangita Jindal, Mrs. Natasha Poonawalla, Ms. Aditi Kothari, and Mr. Nikhil Kamath.
Our Programmes
A. Education and Empowerment of Adolescent Girls
We are empowering adolescents in India, primarily girls, through digital literacy, STEM education, life skills training, employment opportunities, and gender empowerment, enabling them to thrive.
B. Child Opportunity Fund
We work with government and community stakeholders to create child-friendly villages where we prevent harm to children before it happens, in alignment with government policies like Mission Vatsalya.
C. Outcome-Based Financing
We utilise innovative finance and outcomes-based approaches to improve the impact of philanthropic initiatives per rupee spent — through programme and outcomes management in large consortia, capacity building of NGOs to prepare for outcomes-based finance structures, and convenings to share learnings and build awareness of the benefits of these approaches.
D. Biodiversity & Climate
Conservation programmes across the Western Ghats, Northeast, and Central India, supporting habitat protection for 19 priority species and proposing 96,000+ acres for Protected Area status, while integrating ecosystem restoration with community livelihoods.
Each donation will be issued an 80G receipt.

Run for India’s Tigers
Help protect one of the world’s most powerful and beloved animals.
Majestic, fierce, and deeply symbolic — India’s tigers are India’s tigers are finding it harder than ever to coexist alongside expanding human landscapes.
India is home to an estimated 3,682 wild tigers (All India Tiger Estimation 2022), representing over 70% of the world’s remaining tiger population. Yet their future remains fragile. Tigers have already lost over 95% of their historic range, and India continues to lose forest cover every year. Between 2006 and 2018 alone, tigers became locally extinct in 13% of their habitat, including areas both within and outside protected reserves. Today, the 1,38,200 km² of tiger habitat supports nearly 60 million people, making coexistence essential to long-term conservation.
Together, we can protect tigers, reduce pressure on forests, mitigate human–wildlife conflict, and support families living near the forest.
The British Asian Trust works across the Greater Tadoba Landscape and the Kanha–Pench Corridor, partnering with communities living around key tiger reserves to protect forests, reduce risks, and build resilient livelihoods.
When communities are resilient and forests are healthy, tigers and people can live safely — creating a planet where everyone can thrive side by side.
