Appeal

I am running for India's Tigers and you can help protect one of the world’s most powerful and beloved animals.

Majestic, fierce, and deeply symbolic - India’s tigers are finding it harder than ever to coexist alongside expanding human landscapes. India is home to an estimated 3,682 wild tigers, representing over 70% of the world’s remaining tiger population. Yet, their future remains fragile. Tigers have already lost over 95% of their historic range, and India continues to lose forest cover every year. Between 2006 and 2018 alone, tigers became locally extinct in 13% of their habitat, including areas both within and outside protected reserves. Today, the 1,38,200 km² of tiger habitat supports nearly 60 million people, making coexistence essential to long-term conservation.

Together, we can protect tigers, reduce pressure on forests, mitigate human-wildlife conflict, and support families living near the forest. The British Asian India Foundation works across the Greater Tadoba Landscape and the Kanha-Pench Corridor, partnering with communities living around key tiger reserves to protect forests, reduce risks, and build resilient livelihoods. When communities are resilient and forests are healthy, tigers and people can live safely - creating a planet where everyone can thrive side by side.

Your contribution will help British Asian India Foundation:
• Restore natural areas that tigers depend on for survival
• Reduce risks for both people and wildlife by mitigating human-wildlife conflict
• Provide clean energy solutions that reduce forest loss from firewood collection and limit human incursion into tiger habitats
• Support alternative income options for households living near tiger landscapes
• Expand our work into more tiger areas, including the Western Ghats
