Neonates Foundation of India (NFI) is committed to bridging the critical care gap for premature and critically ill newborns from underprivileged families across the country. Each year, 4.6 million babies in India face life-threatening complications—yet many are unable to access advanced neonatal care due to high NICU costs and systemic barriers. NFI tackles this crisis through an impact-driven model that provides lifesaving NICU treatment, combining financial assistance, a pan-India network of partner hospitals, and continuous handholding support for families throughout their NICU journey.

Our core interventions include direct financial assistance for neonatal treatment and support through a strong network of partner hospitals offering subsidized care. With a presence across 64 villages, 41 districts, and 10 states, NFI has supported 223 critically ill newborns through 31 partner hospitals, giving access to more than 680 NICU beds. Our mission is to reduce preventable newborn deaths in alignment with UN SDG 3.2, upholding transparency, accountability, and ethical collaboration at every step.

Appeal

Every day, thousands of newborns in India fight for survival during their most fragile moments. For many families, the cost of critical NICU care is simply unaffordable—putting their babies’ lives at severe risk. NFI steps in to bridge this gap by enabling emergency neonatal treatment for newborns from underserved communities.

On average, it costs around 1,00,000 to support the complete treatment of one premature baby, covering essential interventions such as respiratory support, infection management, specialized nutrition, and round-the-clock monitoring. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we have already saved 233 newborns—and this year, we aim to reach at least 100 more.

Funds raised through the Tata Mumbai Marathon will directly support hospital bills, medical supplies, and 24x7 neonatal care for the babies who need it most.
