Every day, thousands arrive at Mumbai’s government hospitals seeking treatment. While patients are admitted, their caregivers- often family members- remain by their side for days, sometimes weeks, with little access to proper meals. At the same time, children studying in balwadis and in Grades 9 and 10 in municipal schools attend classes hungry, left out of the government’s midday meal scheme.
At Akshaya Chaitanya, we address these gaps by serving 18,000+ free, nutritious meals every day to caregivers, OPD patients, and underserved children across Mumbai. Our work supports SDGs 2 (Zero Hunger), 3 (Good Health), and 4 (Quality Education) and our meals support better recovery in hospitals and improved learning in schools - building both health and hope.
Between April 2024 and March 2025, we’ve served over 46 lakh meals- but the need continues to grow. We’re now working toward a bold vision: to scale up to 1.2 lakh meals per day. To meet this growing demand, we’re building a new state-of-the-art kitchen that will help us expand our reach and serve even more people with dignity and care.

Your contribution will help us procure essential ingredients, maintain the quality and consistency of our meals, and ensure timely delivery to schools and hospitals across Mumbai.
