About Me

My name is Mr. Sajal K. Kayal, and I am the Co-Founder and CEO of Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS).

I have been working closely with rural and marginalised communities in West Bengal for over 24 years. My association with KMSWS is deeply personal — it was born from the belief that sustainable change happens when communities are empowered with education, livelihood opportunities, and care for their environment.

Through this fundraising page, I am personally appealing to friends, well-wishers, and supporters to contribute toward the ongoing work of KMSWS. While the Tata Mumbai Marathon event has concluded, this platform continues to provide an opportunity to support meaningful grassroots action that creates lasting impact.

Appeal

I am supporting Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS) through the Tata Mumbai Marathon platform because I have seen, first-hand, how sustained grassroots work can change lives.

For over two decades, KMSWS has been working in some of the most climate-vulnerable and economically marginalised regions of South 24 Parganas and the Sundarbans in West Bengal. The organisation supports children’s education, women’s livelihood, environmental restoration (including large-scale mangrove and tree plantation), nutrition, and youth empowerment — all rooted deeply in community participation.

Though the marathon run is over, the needs of these communities are not. Funds raised through this platform will directly support ongoing programmes such as school education, nutrition, women’s empowerment, and climate resilience initiatives that require continuous care, monitoring, and community engagement.

Every contribution, big or small, helps strengthen long-term impact and ensures that the work on the ground continues with dignity, consistency, and hope. I invite you to be part of this journey and walk alongside these communities toward a more resilient and equitable future.
