About Me

I often say I’m a socialist at heart and a capitalist by brain. I believe the pie must grow, but it must also be shared fairly.

And nothing grows + distributes opportunity more powerfully than quality education for all.

After nearly a decade in the higher-education financing industry, I’ve seen how one educated child can transform an entire family. That belief became even stronger when I recently visited Door Step School’s School-on-Wheels program.

Sitting inside a bus-turned-classroom, surrounded by children eager to learn, I was reminded how powerful and life-changing basic education can be.

This fundraiser is my small way of supporting organizations that ensure learning reaches those who need it the most.

Appeal

I am raising funds for Door Step School, an NGO that brings education directly to children living in Mumbai’s slums and street communities through their innovative School-on-Wheels program.

During my visit, I saw firsthand how these mobile classrooms create a safe, joyful space for children who would otherwise be left behind. There was a boy who was a "florist" on a signal close to my home. 3 boys were "colleagues in ragpicking". And every introduction was touching.

Those 2-3 hrs of door-step-school is the only time they become really a child. They hardly care if the washrooms are away or no playing field or no electricity or too much dust+noise.

More respect to ground teachers and coordinators who have been working in such conditions for 20-25 years straight.
Handling 60-75 kids every day, from such a stressed background, is no way easy task. But they were proud of CAs, engineers, international chefs, NGO leaders they have produced so far.

Indian President, British Royals, international media - many have recognized their work. But not us!
