Meenakshi’s Journey of Confidence and Learning
Meenakshi, an 8-year-old Grade 2 student from G.C.P.S. Manpura in Himachal Pradesh, lives with her father and younger brother after her mother left the family, making her father the sole caregiver with a modest income of ?10,000. When she first joined the Patang Learning Centre, she was extremely quiet, withdrawn, and academically behind—struggling with the Hindi alphabet, vowels, counting, and regular attendance. Her teacher, Ms. Reeta Devi, noticed her isolation and gently worked to build trust, spoke with Meenakshi’s father, and encouraged him to support her learning at home. Using engaging Teaching Learning Materials and fun activities, Ms. Reeta helped Meenakshi slowly open up, participate, and enjoy learning. Today, Meenakshi attends school regularly, reads and writes in Hindi, recognizes numbers, solves simple math problems, and expresses herself confidently. Her father is proud of her progress, sharing that she now studies on her own, while Ms. Reeta feels fulfilled seeing her transformation. Meenakshi herself says she loves coming to school because her teacher explains with patience and care. Her journey shows how compassionate teaching and consistent support can rebuild a child’s confidence and rekindle the joy of learning.
