Project NamePatang Remedial Education
Amount Utilized (INR)1825000
Project DescriptionThe Patang Remedial Education Programme is not merely an academic intervention but a movement toward educational justice and social equity. As a holistic and community-driven initiative, Patang is designed to strengthen the formal education system while dramatically reducing dropout rates, especially among children from marginalized and underserved communities.
Vipla Foundation’s Patang Remedial Education Intervention effectively reduces the learning gaps in primary and middle school children and minimizes student attrition. The program does this by running remedial education centres in schools and in the community which acts as a support system for schools where constant interaction and feedback from schools becomes possible.
The activities in the intervention include a Diagnostic Assessment of children and running Patang remedial learning classes for below-average learners for all primary school children.
The SMAK (Science Maths Application of Knowledge) workshops address the specific learning gap for children in Science and Maths through demonstrating activities and experiments to develop and increase knowledge, scientific temper and rational thinking.
