About Me

My name is Yatharth Kalsi and I am a Grade 11 student currently volunteering at Muktangan every Friday as part of my CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) in IBDP. I’ve always believed in giving back to the community — something that has been a big part of my upbringing. I come from a family that values generosity and has always encouraged me to help those in need, whether through time, effort, or donations. Muktangan immediately resonated with me because it doesn’t just educate children; it empowers women and uplifts entire communities. Supporting their mission feels like a genuine way to make a difference and continue the values I’ve been raised with.

Appeal

Over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to witness first-hand the dedication, warmth, and transformative power of Muktangan’s approach to education. My time there has deeply moved me and inspired me to support their mission — to provide inclusive, high-quality education that empowers children and women from marginalized communities.
Muktangan’s model is unique. It not only educates children from low-income backgrounds but also trains local women as teachers, creating a self-sustaining cycle of empowerment. Reading about teachers like Seema Ghorpade, who came from a background where girls were discouraged from studying, truly highlights how Muktangan changes lives. Through their Pre-Service Teacher Education programme, Seema discovered her voice, gained confidence, and now ensures that hundreds of children receive the quality early education she once dreamed of. Her story shows how education can break cycles of inequality and ignite lasting change.

Every story from Muktangan reflects resilience, opportunity, and transformation. Supporting this initiative means contributing to something far greater than education alone — it means investing in empowerment, equality, and community-driven change. Each donation helps Muktangan continue training teachers, upgrading classrooms, and reaching more children across Mumbai.
