About Me
Hi, I’m Vedika Shrivastava, a student of grade 11. I’ve signed up for the Dream Run 2026 because I believe that education is the most powerful way to change lives.
I’ve always believed that education has the quiet power to change everything — to lift a family, a community, even a generation. When I discovered Muktangan, I was moved by how simple and human their model is. They train women from low-income communities to become teachers, and those teachers go on to educate children from the same neighborhoods.
It’s a cycle of hope — a woman gains confidence, a child gains a future, and a community begins to thrive.
Reading the stories of teachers like Seema and Lata made me realize how much can change when someone gets a chance to learn and to teach. Their classrooms are filled with children who laugh, question, and dream, because someone believed in them.
Running for this cause feels deeply personal. Every kilometer I run is a small way of saying that every child deserves a chance, and every teacher deserves to be valued.
If you’re reading this, I hope you’ll join me in supporting Muktangan. Together, we can turn every step into a step toward opportunity, dignity, and hope.
Appeal
This year, I am running the Dream Run (5.9 km) for Muktangan, an organization that supports a cause that has deeply moves me.
Muktangan runs seven English-medium municipal schools in Mumbai, teaching more than 2,400 children every year through 350 teachers who come from the same communities as these children. Each teacher carries a story of courage and transformation that reminds me why this work matters so much.
I read about Seema, who grew up in a family where girls were discouraged from studying. She joined Muktangan’s teacher training program years ago, nervous and unsure, but determined to learn. Today, she is a preschool faculty member who trains other teachers, speaks at international conferences, and inspires young women to find their voice and independence.
Then there is Lata, who moved from Telangana to Mumbai with a small baby and very little confidence. She started as a preschool teacher, learning patiently through Muktangan’s supportive environment. Today, she leads the Math Department and has helped hundreds of children discover the joy of learning.
Stories like Seema’s and Lata’s are not exceptions. They are what make Muktangan special. Every rupee raised keeps this circle of learning alive, where women become teachers and children gain access to education that is warm, inclusive, and full of life.
Your donation will help pay teacher salaries, buy books and crayons, and support classrooms where children learn with curiosity and joy.
Please support my run for Muktangan. Every step I take is for a child who deserves a future filled with learning and hope, and for a teacher who once dreamed of creating that future.
Together, we can help both grow.
