About Me

I come from a background in Social Work and have had the privilege of working with diverse communities across India. This exposure has provided me with a clear understanding of a critical issue that unites many of the challenges faced by these communities—education. I am deeply passionate about education because I believe it is the foundation of a brighter, more equitable future for every child. Growing up, I saw firsthand how quality education can be transformative, opening doors to new opportunities and changing lives. Unfortunately, in many parts of India, this opportunity remains out of reach for millions of children, especially in rural and underserved areas.
This is one of the main reasons I am supporting the Sterlite EdIndia Foundation (EdIndia). Their mission to empower educators and address the gaps in teacher quality deeply resonates with me. I am inspired by their innovative, data-driven approach to enhancing teacher training and their commitment to creating long-term, systemic change within the education sector.
What particularly draws me to EdIndia is their dedication to equipping teachers with the necessary skills for modern classrooms, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The chance to contribute to an organization that is directly impacting thousands of educators and students is both meaningful and fulfilling. By supporting EdIndia, I hope to play a part in a movement that ensures every child, regardless of their background or location, has access to quality education and motivated, skilled teachers.

Appeal

In a country of over 260 million school-going children, the quality of education hinges on the strength of our teachers. Yet, India faces a critical shortage, with over 11 lakh teaching posts vacant and nearly 40 lakh students in single-teacher schools—many in rural and tribal regions. Only 87.7% of primary teachers and 90.4% of secondary teachers are professionally qualified, leaving millions of children without the quality education they deserve.
This is why I am committed to the Sterlite EdIndia Foundation (EdIndia)—a not-for-profit organization founded in 2019 with the mission to empower educators and create a data-driven culture within the education system.
EdIndia works across six states—Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Tripura, Uttarakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh—partnering with Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs), government bodies, and over 67,000 stakeholders to transform teacher education.
Through its Teacher Education Program, EdIndia:
Delivers tech-enabled, modular, and practice-oriented training aligned with NEP 2020 and NPST standards.
Empowers education officials with data analytics tools, enabling informed decision-making.
Partners with SCERTs and DIETs to build domain expertise and implement strategic reforms.
EdIndia’s innovative approach, blending policy alignment, technology, and evidence-backed reforms, is shaping the future of education in India. In collaboration with partners like UNESCO, UNICEF, and the Commonwealth Education Trust, we are working towards a systemic, inclusive transformation aligned with SDG 4—Quality Education.
