About Me
Hi, I’m Abhir - I'm 19 and currently a psychology student at Middlebury College. My academic work and my life both orbit around one big idea: how we can build kinder, fairer systems for people who have the least, but fight the hardest.
I grew up watching Indian cities and villages exist side by side — world-class hospitals next to people who delay treatment because they can’t afford the travel, and glittering skylines built on the invisible labour of rural communities. That contrast is what draws me to organisations like the Indian Cancer Society, which makes cancer awareness, early detection and rehabilitation accessible to under-resourced patients, and Light of Life Trust, which quietly transforms rural lives through education, healthcare and livelihoods support.
Outside the classroom, I host a podcast, volunteer with non-profits, and try to use writing and public speaking to spark conversations about mental health, inequality and social impact. The Tata Mumbai Marathon Dream Run is a way for me to bring all of that together — to celebrate the city I love, and to help push resources towards people who deserve so much more than chance.
Appeal
This January, I’ll be lacing up my shoes for the Tata Mumbai Marathon Dream Run, not just to cross a finish line, but to stand up for two causes that are very close to my heart: the Indian Cancer Society and the Light of Life Trust.
The Indian Cancer Society is India’s first voluntary, national cancer organisation. From spreading awareness and screening for early detection, to helping underprivileged patients access treatment and rehabilitation, they work across the full spectrum of cancer care so that “many cancers are treatable, when detected early.”
Light of Life Trust works in rural India to break the generational cycle of poverty “one life at a time,” by supporting children, youth and women through education, livelihoods training, primary healthcare and community development.
Mumbai has given me so much joy, opportunity and love. Running through its streets for this Dream Run is my way of giving back — to the city, and to countless families fighting illness and inequality with incredible courage.
Your contribution, big or small, can help fund cancer screenings and treatment support, and keep a child in rural India in school, healthy, and hopeful. Together, we can turn a morning’s run into many more years of life, learning and dignity for those who need it most.
