Beneficiary Description | The beneficiaries of the HDFC School Infrastructure Project are government and government-aided rural secondary schools located in underserved regions of Goa (12 schools) and Maharashtra (40 schools). These schools cater to students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds, where access to quality infrastructure and digital learning tools has been historically limited. Prior to the intervention, many of these schools faced challenges such as: Poor classroom conditions Lack of proper sanitation facilities, especially for girls Limited or no access to digital learning resources Inadequate teacher training in modern pedagogy Through this project, schools received infrastructural upgrades, smart classrooms, sanitation improvements, and teacher training. These enhancements have helped create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment, encouraging student attendance, improving learning outcomes, and reducing dropout rates. The project empowers schools to not just educate, but inspire and retain students, ensuring they are equipped for a brighter future.

Digital Access: Smart classroom tools and digital content have enabled interactive and tech-integrated learning, motivating students to participate actively in lessons. Improved Sanitation & Hygiene: Construction and refurbishment of toilet facilities and access to clean water have significantly improved hygiene and student attendance, particularly among adolescent girls. Teacher Development: Teachers were trained to adopt modern teaching methods, enhancing their ability to deliver lessons effectively and connect with students. Stronger Community Involvement: Engagement with parents and school management committees has fostered collective responsibility and sustainability of the improvements made. Through this project, schools have become more inclusive, child-friendly, and future-ready—bridging the gap between urban and rural education standards.
