About Me
I am from Uttaranchal but I grew up in Pune, I was happy for the first ten years of my life, but tragedy struck very early. My parents and my elder sister were all killed in a bus accident, leave me an orphan. At this stage, fate struck its cruel hand again. The rash driving of my friend caused me to fall backwards into a ditch, leaving me paralysed from neck down. In no time at all, I am orphan, without any money, without any people to take care of me and left in some hospital to rot. At this stage, a kind Lady in Pune by the name of Mrs. Nalini Ramachandra came to my aid. She and some friends of hers are still continuing to help me and they are sponsoring my stay at the Amar seva Sangam.
Appeal
With the mission to empower physically challenged persons in pursuing independent livelihood, Amar Seva Sangam has been carrying out Rehabilitation, Education, Skill development and Employment of physically challenged through institution based and village based initiatives since 1981. In recognition of our services, our organization received several prestigious awards from the State and Central Governments and other reputed national/international institutions. As part of this initiative, among various other bold and innovative projects and programs, inclusive education is offered by us through Siva Saraswathy Vidyalaya in the Campus from Nursery till 12 th Standards where more than 59 children with disabilities and 608 other children are given quality education at affordable cost considering the rural and economic background. For the last 7 years our School secured cent percent results in the 12 th Standard Government Examinations. Financially, it is a great challenge for us to make both ends meet. Also, the ever-increasing cost of education is an added burden on us. In order to raise funds and also to promote our services across the country, we are participating in major Marathons such as the Mumbai Marathon, Chennai Marathon and the Bangalore Marathon since its inception, except during the Covid pandemic period.
