Appeal
Hello, I'm Vikas Yadav, a retinoblastoma (Eye Cancer) survivor and advocate for Kids Can Konnect (a group of childhood cancer survivors across India). I will be running the Tata Mumbai Half Marathon to raise funds to support children with cancer for CanKids KidsCan, The National Society For Change For Childhood Cancer In India. And need your help to achieve the same.
My journey with cancer began at the age of 15 in 2015 in a small town in Uttar Pradesh, and it took my family through 22 hospitals in search of the right treatment. Eventually, we found hope at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, thru CanKids where I underwent treatment and emerged victorious, although I lost one eye in the process. The lack of quality healthcare in our region compelled my family to make a significant move from Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai, highlighting the challenges many families face in accessing the right medical care. CanKids was a large part of my journey guiding, supporting, helping and even now shapes my life and career.
I am proud to share that I am participating in the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) for the 5th time, under the Half-Marathon (21 Km) category with 19 other cancer survivors, like me nd our goal extends beyond personal achievements. We are dedicated to raising funds to support children fighting cancer, and this year, I have set a target of a lakh rupees.
I am reaching out to friends, family, and colleagues, urging them to contribute whatever they can to this cause. Every contribution, no matter how small, will play a crucial role in saving the lives of children battling cancer. Your support is not just a donation it's a step towards saving a child's life.
Join me in this journey, contribute to the cause, and let's collectively work towards a world where quality healthcare is accessible to brave young souls fighting cancer. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those in need. Thank you for your support!
