I am a counselling psychologist by profession and co-founder and director at Rubaroo. I love scuba-diving, wildlife and reading. Being someone who really does not enjoy exercising in a gym, staying healthy by running was perfect for me. I love the time it allows me to spend with myself in the outdoors with my music for company. With my NGO participating in the Tata Mumbai Marathon, I feel like it is the perfect opportunity for me to be healthier and go the extra mile for the cause that is so important to me.
Appeal
I have had the privilege of being part of many deep conversations and personal human stories, be it through psychology class or at a sleepover with friends. I've lost count of the number of times these have led to a disclosure of experiencing sexual abuse during childhood. It is heart-breaking to imagine that so many people have experienced this, carried the shame for so long and shared their stories for the first time in adulthood, if at all. Rubaroo, through its programmes, works tirelessly to change that, so that our children today and in the future do not have to experience sexual violence and are protected and supported by the adults around them.
