Rubaroo strives to reduce instances of Child Sexual Abuse in our society. Given what a rampant yet taboo issue this is, we work towards building awareness on and sensitivity towards the issue amongst adult stakeholders. Our prevention programmes aim to empower children with age-appropriate knowledge about their bodies, understand personal safety in a holistic manner, recognise sexual abuse and report the same.Through our interventions across schools, institutions and communities, we hope to build a safety net around children to prevent victimization. Rubaroo also has an in-house team of highly trained, trauma informed counsellors who help survivors overcome the impacts of sexual abuse.

Appeal

In 2007, the Government of India conducted the largest study on the subject of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA). The results are terrifying, more than 53% of the 12500 children surveyed had experienced child sexual abuse. Assuming that this sample is representative of a larger trend, this means close to 250 million children in India have experienced some form of sexual abuse.

94.5% of perpetrators are known to the victim (NCRB, 2015) with a lot of cases happening where the child resides.

Our vision is to have a child sexual abuse-free society for happier and safer children and we need the support of various individuals and organizations in achieving our goals and fighting this issue at large.

Most of our funds are utilised towards our various programmatic interventions - the My Body, My Safety (MBMS) programme for children and youth, the Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) Awareness, the Intensive Child Sexual Abuse Awareness programmes for adult stakeholders and counselling for victims of child sexual abuse and their families.

A small percentage of our funds are utilised towards compliance, financial management, administrative expenses, office rent etc..
