From August to December 2019, volunteers from our corporate partner participated in various employee engagement activities organised by United Way Mumbai. Activities over the months included the following.
August: 148 employee volunteers engaged with 394 beneficiaries through activities including;
Puppet making sessions for Independence Day
An informative visit to Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum
A beach clean-up activity at Dadar Chowpatty
A tree plantation activity, where they planted 150 saplings and conducted an awareness session on environmental and climate change issues for 250 children
A Let's READ activity, where they engaged with 100 children through assisted reading sessions as well as book distributions in order to promote the joy of reading
Tree plantation at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, where employees planted over 200 saplings and repurposed used plastic bottles to make bird feeders and planters
Session on "Career Guidance" for 35 youth, where employees discussed topics like the importance of punctuality, self-contemplation, time management, etc.
A beach clean-up activity at Broken Bridge Beach in Chennai, where the employees participated in learning about the beach's unique ecosystem and important strategies in waste management
A visit to Nehru Science Centre where the employees and beneficiaries explored different galleries and attended science shows on wildlife and outer space
A visit to Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, where the children learned about Mumbai's geographical history and participated with the volunteers in making 3D dioramas
A min-sports day activity, where volunteers engaged with the children through tug-of-war contests and a number of races
A financial literacy session for 35 youth, where employees discussed various strategies in financial planning and management
Christmas celebrations, where employees engaged with children in making festive decorations and greeting cards
