Rise Against Hunger India is a charitable trust established in 2014 as part of the global Rise Against Hunger network, founded in 1998 to combat hunger worldwide. Governed by a Trust and Advisory Board, our vision is a world without hunger, with a mission to nourish lives, empower communities, respond to emergencies, and grow the movement against hunger. We uphold values of Passion, Liveliness, Agility, Transparency, and Empathy (PLATE), aligning with UN SDGs including Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Good Health and Wellbeing (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12).
Our interventions span four pillars:
Nourishing Lives: Mobilizing volunteers to package and distribute millions of nutritious meals to vulnerable groups via NGOs, promoting education, health, and economic growth.
Empowering Communities: Enhancing agricultural productivity, business skills, market access, and climate-resilient farming in rural areas to ensure food security.
Responding to Emergencies: Providing rapid aid during crises like floods, droughts, and pandemics through field teams and partners.
Growing the Movement: Engaging volunteers globally for packaging, operations, and advocacy to build a collective fight against hunger.
We operate pan-India across 129 districts in 22 states, focusing on aspirational rural districts in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar, prioritizing sustainability and community resilience.
Appeal
Funds raised by donors will be used to give our packaged micro-nutrient rich meals to vulnerable groups. We assure that 100% of funds will go to feed the needy. We will not use any of the funds raised for overheads, admin or towards purchasing assets. We will provide full details of the number of persons served and number of meals served. Depending on the donors locations and interest, we would also be happy to invite the donors to directly participate in delivering the meals to the end recipients.
Our packaged fortified meals are received every month by hundreds of partner organizations who run children's homes, residential care institutions for elderly, home for girls, charitable hospitals for TB, HIV/AIDS an cancer patients.. Our meal packets have dry, uncooked mix of rice, dal, dehydrated vegetables, and a mix of 23 micronutrients and minerals - that are packaged in air
