People for Animals (PfA), Bengaluru, is a nonprofit wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre established in 1996. Licensed by the Karnataka Forest Department and recognised by the Central Zoo Authority of India and the Animal Welfare Board of India, PfA operates 24/7 to rescue, treat, rehabilitate, and release urban wild animals affected by accidents, electrocution, habitat loss, and urbanisation.

Over the years, PfA has saved more than 46,000 animals across 231 species. Our expert team of veterinarians provides advanced care, including surgeries, laser physiotherapy, electro-acupuncture, and prosthetics. Once recovered, animals undergo behavioural and environmental rehabilitation before being released back into their original territories — a moment we cherish deeply.

PfA also engages in public awareness programs and ecological initiatives such as restoring water sources in fringe forests, playing a vital role in preserving Bengaluru's biodiversity.

Some of our recent awards and recognitions:
• Saalu Marada Thimmakka award in 2019

Since 1996, PfA has rescued and cared for over 46,000 urban wild animals across 231 species - from kites entangled in manja to electrocuted macaques, and injured snakes with spinal injuries. Our dedicated wildlife hospital runs 24/7 with skilled veterinarians and innovative treatments like feather implantation, prosthetics, and electro-acupuncture.
As a nonprofit with no government funding, we rely entirely on compassionate individuals and conscious organizations to help us continue this life-saving work.
