DATRI – Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry
DATRI, founded in 2009, is India’s largest unrelated blood stem cell donors registry. Its mission is to give every patient suffering from life-threatening blood disorders such as leukemia, lymphoma, thalassemia, and aplastic anemia a second chance at life. For many of these patients, a blood stem cell transplant is the only curative option — but finding a matching donor is extremely rare. DATRI bridges this gap by recruiting, counseling, and registering voluntary donors across the country.
With over 5 lakh registered donors and 1,200+ lives saved, DATRI has been instrumental in building awareness about blood stem cell donation and making transplants accessible to patients, irrespective of their social or economic background.
Areas of Intervention:
Patient Support: Facilitating donor–patient matches and coordinating stem cell collections for transplants.
Donor Recruitment & Counseling: Conducting awareness drives, camps, and online registrations to expand India’s donor base.
DATRI works towards SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being) striving to give hope and life to patients in need.
Appeal
At DATRI, we believe every patient battling a life-threatening blood disorder deserves a second chance at life. A blood stem cell transplant is often their only hope, but finding a matching donor and ensuring a successful transplant comes with immense challenges. With your support, we can bridge this gap and save more lives. Funds raised will be directed towards expanding our donor registry by conducting awareness and registration drives across schools, colleges, corporates, and communities, thereby encouraging more people to join the mission. A significant portion of the funds will also be used to cover the high cost of HLA typing — the genetic testing required to identify potential donor–patient matches. This crucial process is what makes it possible for a patient to find their life-saving match. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly helps us register more potential donors, widen the pool for matches, and create hope for patients whose survival depends on a transplant. Together, we can turn moments of kindness into life-saving opportunities. Your support is not just a donation — it is truly a gift of life.
