Deesha Group is a not-for-profit organization working to eliminate corneal blindness by increasing access to eye care, promoting eye donation, and ensuring fair and transparent distribution of donated corneas. Inspired by a personal loss, Deesha began its journey in 2005 through awareness campaigns and has since grown into a leading force in eye banking and community eye health in Maharashtra.
We established our first DEF's Deesha International Eye Bank in Amravati in 2011 and have expanded to Yavatmal, Washim, and Buldhana districts. Deesha also operates India’s first state-supported 24x7 Eye Donation Helpline and a Mobile Eye Care Unit that screens underserved populations in remote villages. Our digital platform enables equitable and efficient cornea allocation across eye banks and hospitals.
To date, Deesha has restored sight to over 12,700 people through corneal transplants, screened more than 3 lakh individuals, and sensitized over 6 lakh citizens about eye and organ donation.
Through the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026, we aim to raise funds to expand our network of eye care services and build Maharashtra’s first non-profit eye hospital and research center in Amravati. Every step you run with us helps someone see the world again.
Appeal
This year, through the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026, Deesha Group is raising funds to expand its eye care services and build Maharashtra’s first not-for-profit eye hospital and research center in Amravati.
Every rupee you donate will directly support:
a. Infrastructure development of the upcoming super-specialty eye hospital, focused on corneal blindness.
b. Upgrading eye banks and retrieval centers in underserved regions for better tissue preservation and utilization.
c. Expansion of our Mobile Eye Care Units to screen and treat patients in remote villages.
d. Training programs for doctors, optometrists, and counselors to strengthen human resources in eye care.
e. Technology integration for our digital cornea distribution platform to ensure fair and transparent access to donated tissues.
Your support will help us restore sight to thousands suffering from preventable blindness, especially those who cannot afford private treatment.
We believe vision is a right, not a privilege, and with your help, we can reach the most neglected corners of Maharashtra with quality eye care.
Join us in making sight possible—one step, one donation, one life at a time.
