Menstruation is a natural and significant biological milestone in the lives of adolescent girls. However, for many young girls in India, particularly those in grades 7 to 10, this natural process becomes a barrier to their education and overall well-being. Limited access to affordable, hygienic sanitary napkins forces many girls to resort to unhygienic alternatives such as cloth, leaves, or ash. This not only leads to serious health risks but also contributes to increased absenteeism and, in some cases, school dropouts. The shame and stigma surrounding menstruation, combined with the lack of proper facilities, further exacerbate these challenges, preventing girls from fully participating in their education and social lives.
