Appeal

At NASEOH’s vocational training centre of the people with disabilities the following vocational skill development are conducted to suit and meet the needs of different categories of people with disabilities.
1) Ceramic & Pottery
2) Gardening
3) Bakery & Confectionery
4) Paper Craft & Assembly
5) Welding & Fabrication
6) Aids & Appliances
7) Tailoring & Embroidery
8) Electronic Assembly
9) Computer & language development
10) Data Entry

On an average 150 people with disabilities are provided this support at any given point in time. As all of the beneficiaries come from the very lower economic and social background, the support is extended free of any cost or charges. We intend to utilize the funds we expect to generate through our participation in Mumbai Marathon to meet the part cost of the vocational training.

Project DescriptionThe focus on building capacities of the disabled youth with appropriate Vocational skills and job capabilities continued through our Smt. Kamla Mehta Vocational Training Center for disabled. The skill development programs and activities were designed and practiced to enable the beneficiaries to develop the right work habits, work culture and job skills so that they can access employment and income generation option and sustain them on equal terms.
Currently NASEOH trains people with disabilities of all categories in training trades as follows :
a. Computer basics alongwith the foundation inputs in language skills, communication, grooming etc.
b. Tailoring, embroidery
c. Gardening and Nursery
d. Bakery and Confectionery
e. Paper Craft and hand assembly
f. Pottery and Ceramics
g. Fabrication, Sheet metal work and Welding.
h. Prosthotic and Orthotic appliances fabrication and assembly.

Beneficiary DescriptionVocational Training inputs will be provided to the people with disabilities in the age group of 18 to 45 years. The total number of disabled to be provided with this intervention would be 150. The beneficiaries are drawn from the surrounding locations for Vocational training center at Chembur. The maximum numbers would be from localities like Chembur, Ghatkopar, Kurla, Govandi, Mankhurd and Navi Mumbai
Impact128 people with disabilities in age group of 18 to 45 years acquired and improved their vocational skills
These beneficiaries with different levels of disabilities both sensory and physical were assessed and appropriate training areas were identified with the support from a team of Social worker, Occupational and Physio therapist and the Psychologist wherever necessary. This has helped the 128 beneficiaries to acquire new skills.

Project DescriptionAround 150 people with disabilities of all categories were identified, screened and accessed for appropriate capacity building support with the help of social workers, medical professionals, paramedical professionals, physio and occupational therapist, special educators and counselors etc. Identified disabled were trained in various vocational skills to inculcate appropriate work skills , work habits and work culture with the intention of preparing them for employment and income generation.

ImpactThe Purpose of the project was to improve the self-worth of differently abled people with appropriate interventions like vocational skill development and economic independence. The project helped to achieve this goals to a very major extent, with the improved self-worth of the beneficiaries and changed attitude of the families and consequent attitude of the society at large towards these beneficiaries
