Aseema Charitable Trust is a Mumbai-based NGO dedicated to realising human potential through high-quality, value-based education for children from marginalised communities. Since 1997, Aseema has worked at the intersection of education, child rights, and social justice, impacting over 10,000 children through its programmes.
For children from underserved urban and rural communities, quality education is often out of reach. In tribal areas, education is rarely a priority — many children are first-generation learners, and girls are especially vulnerable to early marriage and dropping out. Aseema seeks to change this narrative.
By partnering with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), Aseema manages three municipal schools and 12 Balwadis in some of the city’s most disadvantaged areas, providing consistent, joyful learning from pre-primary to Standard X. In rural Maharashtra, Aseema’s school in Igatpuri offers holistic education to children of farmers and daily wage earners.
Aseema’s approach goes beyond academics — nurturing students emotionally, socially, and creatively. Today, girls who were once at risk of child marriage are pursuing careers in medicine, arts, and education. Aseema’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty and build a more just and compassionate world — one child at a time.

Appeal

Your support holds the power to transform lives.
At Aseema, we believe that every child—regardless of background—deserves access to high-quality, value-based, holistic education. For children from marginalised communities, education is not just a right; it is their path to dignity, opportunity, and a future full of promise.
With your help, we nurture not just minds, but hearts and dreams. Our children grow in an environment where learning is joyful, meals are nourishing, health is prioritised, and emotional well-being is supported. We stand by our students even after they graduate—helping them pursue higher education and break the cycle of poverty that has bound their families for generations.
Today, over 3,600 children in our Mumbai and Igatpuri schools benefit from this support. Through our 12 adopted balwadis in MCGM schools, we are also laying strong educational foundations in early childhood.
Your contribution will help us:
Strengthen classroom learning and empower our teachers
Provide daily nutritious meals and essential healthcare
Offer life skills and counselling to build resilience
Support alumni in their journeys beyond school
Join us in creating lasting change—one child, one family, one future at a time.

Beneficiary DescriptionAt Aseema’s school in Igatpuri, over 500 children, aged 3 to 16 years, receive holistic education from pre-primary to Standard X. These children come from tribal and rural communities, primarily from families of farmers and daily wage earners. Most are first-generation learners, and many face challenges such as poverty, lack of access to healthcare, and limited educational resources at home. The student group includes both boys and girls, with a nearly equal gender ratio. In recent years, we have seen a positive shift, with more girls continuing their education instead of dropping out early or being married young. With access to consistent schooling, nutrition, and emotional support, children are becoming healthier, more confident, and motivated to pursue higher studies and meaningful careers.
ImpactThe support helped us give children a better learning experience. With caring teachers, useful study materials, fun outings, and proper medical help, students are now more interested in school and attend regularly. They are happier, more confident, and eager to learn. Some children who once struggled are now doing well and dreaming of a better future.
