Project Description | The MANAV Foundation is a charitable trust, founded in 2004 registered under section 18 - 19 of the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950. Under its umbrella, the Manav Mental Health Project was established in response to achieve inclusion of individuals living with Mental Illness. Recognizing the scarcity of Mental Health resources, MANAV Foundation is dedicated to including marginalized individuals with Mental Illness into society. Our vision is "Inclusion, by widening the horizons of Mental Health to ensure its recognition, importance and acceptance as a necessary component of society." Our mission is to engage all systems for the holistic development of individuals with Mental Illness. MANAV Foundation served all adults across socio-economic backgrounds, emphasizing inclusivity and accessibility to Mental Health services for everyone, regardless of financial status. Since inception, no potential beneficiary in need of our care has been turned away, including individuals and families who found themselves unable to pay the fees that were initiated as a “sliding scale”. Today, this programme offered our benificiries lunch, medication and travel expenses of destitute and economically disadvantaged individuals living with Mental Illness.

Beneficiary Description | We cater to adult beneficiaries aged 18 and above, coming from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.Under the Client Welfare Programme, a total of 7 clients benefited from the support provided. The benefits extended to them included travel assistance, lunch, therapeutic services, and medication.
Impact | The sliding scale fee structure at Manav Rehabilitation Centre has had a transformative impact on the lives of individuals and families navigating Mental Health challenges. By committing to never turn away a beneficiary due to financial constraints, we have created a truly inclusive space. Our model has enabled a significant number of individuals from low-income and financially vulnerable backgrounds to access consistent, high-quality mental health services. Many clients who would have otherwise been excluded from care due to financial hardship have received therapy and psychosocial rehabilitation support without interruption. Our sliding scale structure reflects our commitment to social justice. It directly challenges systemic barriers that prevent marginalized individuals from accessing Mental Health care and contributes to a broader culture of inclusion and equality within our community.

Project Description | MANAV Foundation utilized the funds to strengthen, update and increase the digital and in-person infrastructure to enable improved group therapy sessions for our clients living with severe mental illness. New laptops, higher speed Wi-Fi plans, router extenders and increased cloud storage were purchased to ensure uninterrupted Zoom sessions for clients joining remotely, and also allowed clients to view recorded session files at their convenience in case anything was missed. Further, the MANAV Foundation utilized these funds to begin new Resource Facilitated sessions for our clients. For example, Yoga and Music Therapy require expertise that our in-house facilitators do not have. Thus, external resource facilitators come in on a per session basis and conduct these interventions for the clients of the MANAV Foundation. Yoga modulates the stress response systems by directly affecting the perceived stress, anxiety and helps those with limited cognitive abilities to increase their capacity for attention. Music is accepted as a universal means to express one's emotions and Music Therapy helps individuals connect with their feelings, express their thoughts, reconnect with their past, and overcome isolation. Given these immense benefits, using the funds to continually sustain these interventions has been very vital for the recovery of our clients.

Beneficiary Description | The MANAV Foundation works only with an adult population between 18 and 65 years. Clients are both male and female. The total number of beneficiaries are 20.
Impact | The project impacted 20 people living with severe mental illness through therapeutic sessions like Yoga therapy and Music Therapy. Further, the improved infrastructure investments allowed 20 clients to avail of continued rehabilitation despite pandemic imposed restrictions causing them to not physically attend the centre. These funds were utilized for a period of 6 months for the above mentioned aspects. These activities created greater insight, greater cognitive capabilities, and improved emotional state for our client. These aspects have compounding effects on the mental health and illness for our beneficiaries.

Project Name | Transitional Rehabilitation Programme
Amount Utilized (INR) | 200000
Project Description | MANAV Foundation currently runs a Transitional Rehabilitation Programme which provides partial in-person and digital services to our beneficiaries. The current premises function primarily as an office space and provides limited space for all our verticals. Facilitating in-person rehabilitation services and other services is restricted due to the shortage of space. However, we envision that we will transition to an all-inclusive premise that provides rehabilitation services along with all other interventions and services, as we have done since 2005. Having experienced a significant broadening of our reach via the digital platform during the pandemic months, we plan to incorporate digital rehabilitation services into an inclusive model which will provide both digital and in-person rehabilitation services, known as the Hybrid Rehabilitation Programme. To maintain and carry forward the Hybrid Rehabilitation Programme, our need is a stable income required to cover the expenses incurred for running our operations and services for our beneficiaries. While finding a stable premise and maintaining it consumes most of the funding we receive and has been one of our biggest challenges, service delivery is of paramount importance to us.
