Mann is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering adults with disabilities, primarily those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs), through vocational training, skill development, and employment opportunities. Since its inception, Mann has been working to bridge the gap between ability and opportunity, enabling individuals to achieve financial independence, dignity, and inclusion in society.

Our training programs focus on job-specific skillsets in areas such as housekeeping, pantry, tailoring, baking, retail, data entry, and other vocational streams, tailored to each individual’s strengths and needs. Alongside technical skills, we emphasise essential life skills, communication, and workplace readiness to ensure holistic development.

Mann also partners with corporates, inclusive employers, and allied organisations to facilitate meaningful employment for our graduates. By creating inclusive workplaces and sensitising communities, we work to challenge stereotypes and foster equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Our interventions extend beyond training to continuous mentoring and support for both the employee and employer, ensuring long-term success and retention.

Through skill-building, advocacy, and inclusive employment, Mann is not just training individuals for jobs—it is creating pathways for independence, dignity, and active citizenship for adults with disabilities.

Appeal

At Mann, we believe in the potential of every individual, regardless of disability. We partner with a diverse range of organisations across sectors to offer meaningful, mainstream employment opportunities to our students. Their unique skills, attention to detail, and ability to excel in process-driven tasks make them valuable contributors in the workplace.

Research and our own experience show that employing people with disabilities results in reliable, motivated employees who enhance workplace culture, foster inclusivity, and demonstrate remarkable loyalty, leading to very low attrition rates.

To continue creating these pathways to independence, we seek your support. Funds raised will be directed towards:
• Vocational Training – equipping students with job-specific and soft skills tailored to industry needs.
• Training Resources & Infrastructure – upgrading tools, assistive devices, and technology to aid learning.
• Employer Sensitisation & Support – conducting workshops to foster inclusive workplaces.
• Student Mentorship & Post-Placement Support – ensuring smooth integration and long-term success in mainstream roles.

Your contribution will directly empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to secure dignified livelihoods, breaking barriers and creating a truly inclusive society.

Together, we can turn ability into opportunity.

Fund Utilization in 2024

Total funds raised in 2024 - INR 374000
Project NameInhouse Training Program - Karmann Project
Amount Utilized (INR)374000
Project DescriptionInhouse Training is Mann's flagship program where Mann trains and places PWIDD in employment. Employment training in this program could be for mainstream jobs in sectors like hotels, restaurants etc. or for tailoring, to be placed in the Karmann manufacturing unit.

Karmann is a brand of home linens and lifestyle products, that are crafted with great love by our intellectually disabled artisans. Karmann was born as Mann's response during the pandemic when many of our working graduates lost their jobs. We realised that we needed to generate employment for our adults ourselves with many of them being sole earning members of their families.

Fund Utilization in 2023

Total funds raised in 2023 - INR 209500
Project NameMann's Partnership Program
Amount Utilized (INR)209500
Project DescriptionMann’s goal is to impact 5000 IDD adults each year by 2027. We identified NGO Partnerships as an effective route to accelerate growth and maximize impact.

Sharing our training curriculum with partner NGOs would enable Mann to get access to a large existing student base. Online training would also eliminate the geographical constraint of operations in Mumbai’s western suburbs and widen Mann’s impact to any part of the city, state or country.

While there are hundreds of NGOs all over India doing great work in the disability space, and have similar challenges related to training resources, finances etc. Here is a chance to collaborate and grow together. Mann’s strength lies in its curriculum and mainstream employment capacity. Mann is providing the curriculum and training at no cost to partner nonprofits. The benefit for the NGO Partner is free capacity building for their staff, and access to a curriculum and tracker which they can adapt to each individual’s needs. Our partnership objective is to accelerate Mann’s impact and create livelihoods for as many PwIDDs as possible within a short time frame.

Beneficiary DescriptionMann's curriculum is housed on a cloud Zoho platform and called the IEP Tracker. The tracker has been made in partnership with industry experts. For example, the skills of the hospitality industry have been worked on with the Marriott team, INOX helped us with the task in the multiplex industry. The roles have been then mapped, broken down into achievable tasks for the adults. Digitalization of our curriculum was accelerated due to the necessity of online training during the pandemic and was actively encouraged and supported by our well-wishers. This IEP Tracker can be imagined as a large canvas from which a special education trainer can pick and choose topics and create an individualized education plan for each trainee. The tool then allows the trainer to set long term and short term goals, and breaks down tasks to the simplest instructions. It enables the trainer to track the student's progress against these goals. Automated reports are generated that save the trainer a lot of documentation time. And anyone including trainers, coordinators, parents, or counselors are able to check on the student's progress at any point in time.
ImpactMann has tied up with and trained 17 NGO partners so far. We impart training based on the NGOs needs and the potential for mainstream jobs in the geography. The tie-up could be for training for mainstream jobs or Karmann production.

Most of the above partner engagements are in the phase of training their students. A few early partners are ready for the employment training phase. In 23-24, Mann will be training 11 orgs on employments.
