Udaan Welfare Foundation since 2008, has worked diligently to provide timely and meaningful support to needy children, women & senior citizens in and around the regions of Thane and Mumbai by effectively implementing sustainable projects that champion Health, Education and Nutrition, and influence a net-positive impact on society & environment.

Presently, Udaan’s community centre, Saksham, is the focal point of Udaan’s community-building activities, with the multi-dimensional endeavour being engaged in nurturing hope through various health, education and skill development programmes since 2015.
The Saksham Community Centre offers a wide range of services, including medical facilities like fully equipped dental & eye clinics, specialist doctor consultations (Eye, Skin, Orthopedic, Medical, ENT & Homeopathic), Pathology lab collections at highly subsidised rates); educational facilities (library, science lab, digital education, and soft skills development mostly free), as well as livelihoods for women (tailoring at highly subsidised rates).

Saksham is a grassroots revolution that has consistently empowered the society around us with great care and compassion, and without losing sight of commercial viability and self-sustainability. It gives us great pleasure to share that Saksham has already had a positive impact on over 20000+ patients (on-site healthcare), 7000+ children (education) and 900+women (skill development); 7500+ children and adults (health camps).

Impact1. Popcorn Phonics report on Journey with 35 Saksham Students: Empowering English Proficiency

Our partnership with Saksham students has yielded remarkable progress. From a timid start, these learners have evolved into confident English speakers. Over initial five months from August 2022, they transitioned from hesitant language users to enthusiastic participants in interactive speaking, reading, and writing activities. Aided by letter-sound associations, sight words, and blending techniques, the students have blossomed. Vocabulary-building exercises, themed discussions, and engaging lessons have expanded their language skills.
The journey's recent phase, February-May 2023, showcased students' newfound comfort in using English for greetings, queries, and structured expressions. Themes like homophones, prepositions, tenses, and more were covered, culminating in reading comprehension and vocabulary enrichment activities. The transformation is evident in the students' written work, reflecting their dedication to speaking confidently and fluently. In conclusion, our collaboration with Saksham students reflects significant linguistic development, fostering confidence, vocabulary, and an intrinsic drive for English proficiency.

2. Digital Education: All 423 students who attended MS Office (418) and Tally (5) sessions have been evaluated with satisfactory results.

Tally students have been certified after appearing for online exams conducted by Tally Academy and have scored 60-70% marks.
