Founded in 1968 by Ms. Kamila Tyabji, Women’s India Trust (WIT) is a charitable organization committed to empowering underprivileged women through education, skills training, and income-generating opportunities. What began as a small initiative to train women in stitching sari petticoats has grown into a dynamic platform that has transformed the lives of thousands of women and their families.
WIT’s mission is to help women help themselves—by equipping them with practical skills, building self-confidence, and enabling financial independence. The Trust focuses on vocational training in tailoring, embroidery, kitchen and tableware production, and Nursing education. Women trained by WIT also contribute to the creation of high-quality handmade products marketed under the WIT label.
Remaining true to its founder’s vision, WIT continues to be women-centric, adapting its programs to meet changing societal needs while offering consistent support and empowerment. In addition to its on-campus training, WIT also conducts hands-on workshops at corporate offices to promote women’s crafts and expand awareness of its mission.
Through its efforts, WIT has built a strong legacy of social impact—transforming unskilled women into skilled artisans, confident entrepreneurs, and contributors to their communities and households.
Appeal
Support WIT’s Education and Healthcare Training Initiatives
Women’s India Trust (WIT) is dedicated to empowering under served communities through education and vocational training. We seek funding support to sponsor students across four key programs:
Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM) Diploma: A two-year course run by the WIT Nursing School that equips young women with essential skills to begin careers in healthcare.
Short-Term Healthcare Courses: Programs like General Duty Assistant (GDA) and Geriatric & Palliative Care offer quick, job-oriented training for those seeking immediate employment.
New Healthcare Education Facility in Panvel: WIT is re-developing an old building into a dedicated education building with hostel facilities to expand its healthcare training offerings and support students from rural and low-income backgrounds.
Kindergarten School in Panvel: WIT runs Nursery, Junior KG, and Senior KG classes to provide quality early education for children aged 2.5 years and above, especially from disadvantaged families.
Funds raised will directly support student sponsorships, ensuring that deserving individuals can access these programs with minimal financial burden. Your support can create life-changing opportunities for students and their families.
Help us build a stronger, more inclusive future—one student at a time.
