Room to Read envisions a world in which all children can pursue a quality education, reach their full potential and contribute to their community and the world. Our innovative model focuses on profound, systemic transformations within schools during the two most critical stages of a child’s schooling: primary school for literacy acquisition and secondary school for girls’ education.
Through our Literacy Program, we support children to become independent readers and lifelong learners. Our Literacy Program trains and coaches teachers, creates quality books and curricular materials, and establishes libraries filled with children’s books in local languages that can be enjoyed at school or home. We also integrate our literacy practices into public education systems to achieve literacy outcomes at scale.
Our Girls’ Education Program ensures that girls build the skills to succeed in school and make key life decisions. We prepare girls to make positive change by providing life skills curriculum, opportunities for mentorship and peer support, and family and community engagement. We help governments deliver similar programs through their own education systems.
Appeal
At Room to Read, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, thrive, and shape a better future. Your support helps us transform education systems so that children—especially those in historically underserved communities—gain the tools they need to succeed.
Funds raised will directly support our Literacy Program, which trains teachers, creates engaging, culturally relevant books, and builds school libraries filled with stories in local languages, fostering a love of reading from an early age. We work within public education systems to ensure lasting impact at scale.
Your donations also fuel our Girls’ Education Program, helping girls stay in school, build confidence, and gain life skills. We provide mentorship, peer support, and family engagement to ensure girls have the guidance they need to make informed choices and reach their full potential.
Every contribution supports sustainable, systemic change—because when children can read and girls can stay in school, entire communities rise.
Join us in creating a world where quality education is not a privilege, but a right.
