Support a Child’s Education – Build a Brighter Future

The Educational Sponsorship Program of Family Service Centre (FSC), initiated in 1963, has been supporting children from economically and socially vulnerable families, many of whom have migrated to Mumbai from different states in search of better livelihoods. These families are often daily wage earners, and their children are first-generation learners—paving the way toward a brighter future through education.

To prevent family breakdown and child institutionalization, FSC provides vital educational assistance, ensuring children stay in school and families remain intact.

Through funds raised during previous Tata Mumbai Marathons, FSC has provided financial support for school sponsorships and higher education, helping children meet their academic needs and stay on their educational path.

This year, we are once again raising funds to:

Support educational sponsorships (?6,600 per child per year)

Assist children pursuing higher education in fields like engineering, IT, Hotel Management, and more

Provide essential technical tools such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones, which many families cannot afford but are now necessary for completing schoolwork, projects, and online learning

FSC works closely with families, schools, and communities to ensure the holistic development of every child. This support will not only ensure continued education for these children but will also pave the way for their personal and professional success, helping them build a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Join us in empowering children through education. Contribute generously and be a part of this transformative journey toward a brighter, more equitable future for underprivileged children.

Project DescriptionEducational Sponsorship:
The Sponsorship Program of FSC was initiated in 1963 based on the underlying principle of reaching out to the socially and economically vulnerable sections of society, through educational assistance and support to help prevent ultimate fragmentations of the family and the institutionalization of children. Initially prompted by charity and philanthropy it has today however undergone a major conceptual change from the "Welfare" to the "Developmental" approach. As a result, it is no longer focused on providing just monetary aid but also aims to create a positive relationship within the family, bring about an attitudinal change on how the child perceives himself/herself and his/her counterpart in society and also focuses on the child's participating in alleviating the problems she/he is faced within the society at large, thus aiming to develop socially responsible citizens.

Project DescriptionThis facilitates our intervention with the family as apart from providing financial assistance, we focus our intervention on the entire family with a view to uplifting their social and economic circumstances, of creating a positive relationship within the family and bringing about an attitudinal change on how the child perceives himself or herself.
Sponsorship intervention improves the families' consideration for their children education; making parents self reliant in the long run. Meanwhile it assists children by helping them to continue and complete their education and empower them by playing a different participatory role in their families and communities.
FSC believes that education should not just be a privilege of the few but a fundamental right for all in receiving basic as well as higher education to compete in today’s market. The mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
