ALERT-INDIA, a registered NGO based in Mumbai, is primarily engaged in the field of health promotion and control of disease such as leprosy, TB and HIV-AIDS among underprivileged section of society in urban and rural areas of Maharashtra since its establishment in 1978. ALERT-INDIA implements several projects on control and prevention of other diseases besides Leprosy in collaboration with multiple stakeholders including Government.

Appeal

ALERT-INDIA’s concern is people affected by leprosy in Maharashtra (which has the 3rd highest incidence in India). Leprosy is a global issue. However, 60% of people affected by leprosy in the world are in India!
Our main focus is to detect, treat, cure and rebuild lives of people affected by leprosy within their family and communities. Tenet of ALERT is prevention of disability and displacement, stigma & discrimination reduction and promotion of social integration.
Our Partnership and Collaboration in creating large impact - We collaborate with the government and other NGOs, partner with companies and foundations, WHO, Govt of Maharashtra and Govt. of India. Our efforts are recognized & endorsed by prominent personalities/celebrities, WHO, Govt of Maharashtra and Govt. of India.
Our need is : We have a specific areas of tasks which require urgent support to provide service at 49 Leprosy Referral Centres (LRCs) and below mentioned details.
1) Providing early detection & treatment to leprosy affected in our 15 districts
of Maharashtra.
2) Providing disability prevention, care and support to leprosy cured individuals
3) Educating & raising awareness among community / public health system.
4) Follow-up and surveillance for disease control
5) Training of medical and paramedical personnel's in the public health system and building youths from the community as caregivers within their community.
