COMPUTER SHIKSHA
SAMARITANS FOR FOUNDATIONAL COMPUTER LITERACY AMONGST NEEDY CHILDREN

We, at Computer Shiksha, take pride that our humble efforts in contributing to SDG#4 and SDG#12 are continuing to create very impactful outcomes to lakhs of needy students across India, while protecting the environment from digital technology wastes.

Our vision to bridge the gaps between the haves and the have-nots is being realized through our mission to equip our future generations of needy school students with critical skills that can only be enabled through fundamental computer literacy. Not being left out of any opportunity to pursue an academic career of choice or a livelihood depends on knowing how to use computers.

Computer Shiksha focusses on teaching the actual use of computers to do things such as writing letters, using Paint to draw pictures, compose documents, do planning using worksheets, financial planning, creating presentations, using internet and email. Typically, the curriculum uses a CS MagicBox and/or computer labs.
As of end-July 2025, Computer Shiksha has reached schools in all 28 states, 5 UTs, 455+ districts including 85+ aspirational districts. Ten (10) schools added every day added currently, and we are confident of reaching of next 10 lakh students by 31st March 2026.

Introduced in Nov 2023, CS MagicBox , a viral innovative solution, now sought by many schools, is a TV-like display unit having a complete set of Computer Literacy course videos embedded in it. The innovation is in its cost effectiveness, maintenance free hardware, self-learning videos in multiple languages eliminating the need for a trained teacher and delivering the knowledge content with open-source software.

The average cost to donor to make a child computer literate using Computer Shiksha solutions is Rs. 54 (less than 1 USD).

All Computer Shiksha’s services are free to the children, their parents and the schools as the costs are borne through the generous donations of funds and end-of-life working computers from individual and corporate donors.
