Samskrita Bharati – Konkan Prant is the regional chapter of the national movement founded in 1981, dedicated to the preservation, propagation, and popularisation of Samskrit through spoken language and cultural engagement, operating across Maharashtra’s Konkan region, it is driven entirely by enthusiastic volunteers who reach diverse communities—regardless of caste, religion, or age—with accessible immersive language programs.

The organisation offers a variety of programmes:
• 10-day Sambhashana Shibiram : A capsule course teaching basic spoken Samskrit with two-hour daily sessions. No prior knowledge needed. Participants gain confidence that they can converse in Samskrit in just ten days.
• Correspondence Course : Structured 6-monthly levels—Pravesha, Parichaya, Shiksha, Kovida—available in multiple languages including Marathi, Hindi and English, enabling flexible learning at Rs.320 per level per person.
• Geeta Shikshana Kendram : Samskrit learning based on script background of Bhagavad Geeta, blending linguistic and spiritual education
• Balakendram : Engaging programmes for children using stories, games, and activities to spark early interest in Samskrit with Samskaras.

As featured on the United Way portal, Samskrita Bharati Konkan Trust is committed to making Samskrit accessible to one and all and is currently focusing on expanding its impact through infrastructure, volunteers' training, and public outreach.

Through our diverse programmes, we aim to inspire individuals and communities to connect with Samskrit and recognize its relevance in today’s world.

We are proud to have Dr. Vishwanath Tiwary as our brand ambassador for the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026. A renowned GI and HPB oncosurgeon with over 15 years of experience, Dr. Tiwary has performed 11,000+ advanced surgeries and is a passionate advocate for Samskrit. He is also an accomplished endurance athlete, earning the Ironman title four times and completing several marathons, with a personal best of 3 hours and 32 minutes.

We are proud to mention that Dr. Tiwary was awarded the prestigious title of FACS – Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons last year. This honour reflects his exceptional achievements in the field of surgery and his dedication to excellence.

Our Programmes:

• Samskrit Sambhashana Shibiram: A 10-day camp introducing conversational Samskrit to people of all ages.
• Balakendram: A vibrant space where children engage with Samskrit through stories, games, and activities.
• Geeta Kendram: A center for learning Samskrit followed by the Bhagavad Gita in its original form without translation.
• Research Initiatives: Applying ancient texts to address modern challenges for societal benefit.

To continue expanding our work, we aim to acquire a dedicated office space to coordinate programmes and host residential training for volunteers. This space will serve as the heart of our efforts to preserve and spread Samskrit.

Project DescriptionDistrict level conferences across locations in Konkan region to create awareness of Samskrit language in general public. Various sessions dessiminating the information about Samskrita Bharati objectives, programmes, importance & relevance of Samskrit were organized. The provisions were required to cover logistics, food-water supply management, equipment and likewise for these conferences. These conferences were conducted across Andheri, Borivali, Mumbadevi, Navi Mumbai and Ratnagiri districts of Samskrita Bharati.
